Fundraising is the gentle art of teaching the joy of giving-Henry Rosso

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been working hard on the group fundraising front. I’ve been to 3 Loughborough lightning netball matches now selling sweets, popcorn and raffle tickets to spectators. They’ve generally gone really well and we’ve raised about £300 each time!

Parie and I also successfully organised and delivered with the help of the rest of the group a pub quiz at The Paget Arms. It was a great success as we filled out the whole pub-people had to even bring chairs in from outside because there wasn’t enough seats! It was a really fun evening and although we struggled at the beginning because the microphone didn’t work, we were overwhelmed by the turn out and raised £250!

I’ve also been umpiring netball matches at departmental netball and coaching/umpiring at My Lifestyle netball. Unfortunately, the netball level 2 coaching course I was booked on was cancelled for a second time and I don’t think I’m going to be able to do another now due to my other commitments but I’m hoping to finish my Level C umpiring.

This week, I also stayed up to 1am baking and decorating cakes in preparation for our bake sale on Friday. We managed to sell all our cakes and raised £160 altogether which we were both really pleased with!

I’m looking forward to going to Durham over the Easter holidays for our Zambia induction but I’ve really got the get cracking on my individual fundraising now!
